1. Roughing gouge of the future.

   A fantastic roughing gouge.It may look a little on the small side when compared to many out there but it is the epitome of efficiency itself, cuts perfectly and without the reduced tang all others which in itself is a huge strength. Most roughing gouges are bulky bits of kit, this is smaller, stronger and a joy in every way I can think of for a roughing gouge. The fact that it is M42 and fits so solidly into the handles is just extra icing on the cake.

4. It works as a finishing tool!

   At the recent Oregon Symposium I watched two demo turners use their SRG like a finishing tool. I asked Dave at the D-Way booth about this and he did a demo. I bought one right then. At home I've now made about 30 coffee scoops for sale and I use the SRG to get the handles ready for sanding. Only use the skew or Dave's detail gouge for a few touches then it's done. Being narrower than my large Sorby, SRG, D-Way's tool can be used in this way.

   I have been very satisfied with all of the D-Way tools and own almost every one that Dave makes. The are all very well made and hold an edge for a long time. I am very happy with this roughing gouge and it is my go to tool for roughing spindle work.

8. The tine will not snap

   A new roughing gouge was needed after the flat tine snapped on my old Sorby gouge. The D-Way 1/2 inch round bar into the handle is never going to snap. The D-Way performance is excellent right out of the box.

10. Spindle Roughing Gouge

    Being well impressed with the quality of my previous D-Way purchases, I ordered and received my new spindle roughing gouge.
    
    This tool really lives up to expectations. Instead of being made with flat steel which is then shaped, this gouge is tooled from solid bar stock just like my other D-Way gouges. With other roughing gouges, the tine is really a weak point, but the tine on this tool is made from solid bar stock measuring 1/2" in diameter. It comes sharpened and ready to use. So far, I've rounded or trued various kinds and sizes of wood and still find no need to sharpen it, though the time will come.
    
    I'm delighted with all the tools I've received from Dave and will continue to turn to him first when I need more toys......oops, I meant TOOLS.
