   Removed protective cover to inspect edge and couldn't put it back on without the edge cutting the cover. These tools are incredibly sharp and ready to use right off the bat.

4. D-Way Tools are the best

   This tool is the workhorse of my shop. I turn tool handles mostly from exotic wood. I actually have three in my tool rack. The oldest is a bit stubby but has a lot of life left. Hold their edge and plenty of backbone so you can make piles chips. No spindle turner should be without this tool.

5. Great Tool

   This is the first spindle gouge I have bought and I am loving it - very efficient way of removing waste wood and like the other D-Way tools I have, it stays sharp a long time.

   I got my new roughing gouge, fitted into my custom desert ironwood handle and the heft and feel of it is perfect! Cuts excellent and used to turn many pieces so far. If your looking for a great tool, buy this one!

8. Love the weight and balance

   I've been using carbide tools and have started using HSS to improve the quality of my work. The D-Way tools and the roughing gouge I recently purchased have heft and balance that I love. The weight of the tool(s) give you a command of the cut and what you're doing. The tools are exceptionally well made and come ready to go.

9. Roughing gouge

   Bought this gouge to use as a rougher on my 10" Jet. Unwrapped it, smiled, and immediately stuck it in an 8" handle, chucked up a length of 2 x 2 cocobolo and made some test cuts... It's well balanced, is small enough to use for all but the finishing details, cuts like butta and feels real good in the hand. Will put it in a 12" handle and use it on my 20" lathe too. It's a well engineered versatile tool that will get lots of use and another great D-Way tool for my collection. Highly recommend giving this bad as little tool a try.

10. Best turning tool I own

    This thingvcame fantastically sharp right out of the box. Good solid steel that performs as great as it looks. I used this to make a crush grind mill and used it from the initial roughing cut to the final finish cut. Hold this tool at s 45 deg angle and it slices the wood to a beautiful smooth finish. The only problem now is that i’m going to have to budget in more of Dave’s tools over the next few months!
