Our Small Wood Turning Roughing Gouge is milled from solid round bar in M42 cobalt HSS. It has a 1/2 inch wide flute and measures 3/4" (.765) round x 9" long, with a 1/2” shank that fits a D-Way 1/2” receiver handle. All of our roughing gouges feature symmetrical flutes and the sidewall is the same thickness throughout the entire length of the tool. This gives you smooth even cuts. And no matter how you roll the tool, your cut is always on the same plane. Shipped sharpened and ready to use.
This gouge is a more modest size and is a great entry level tool for all skill levels. ~ JIMMIE

I own 8 roughing gouges , looking for the one I consider to be my go too for roughing . Having all different makers and brands ranging in price from 50.00 to 160.00 dollars this one exceeds them all . For me it was a natural fit . With a 8" handle it was so much fun to use . I played with for about 6 hours on every type of wood in my shop from pine to cocobolo and my last piece was a piece of iron wood . only then did I have to sharpen it . All I did was hone it with a 600 grit diamond stone , and it was like it just came out of the box . Proud To own it ! Thank You .
