All our flutes are individually inspected and hand polished to remove all machine marks. This extra step assures the sharpest cutting edge possible. They are shipped sharp.
I use the 3/8" Spindle Detail Gouge on spindle work for detail. When ground with a steep angle it will get into tighter places. This is my go to tool when I turn finials.
Dave.
Requires Bushing
I recommend either the 8" or 12" handle for Spindle Detail, I personally prefer the 8".

I love all my D-Way tools and this gouge is no exception. The steel and engineering are top notch and they hold their edge so much longer than the junk from other manufacturers..

I was looking for a great 3/8" spindle gouge and I found one with D-Way. I'm sure that when I need other gouges in the future D-Way will be one of the first places I look.

This was my first D-Way tool and it is great. I've added the roughing gouge, parting tool and skew since. They're all great and Jimmie and Cindy are terrific to do business with and always willing to take the time to help. Terrific company with a level of customer service that is becoming increasingly lacking these days.

The 3/8 and 1/2 spindle gouge from D-Way tools are awesome. Easy to sharpen and they stay sharp longer than my non D-Way tools.

This gouge plus all my other D-Way tools arrived sharp ready to use. Many companies say that, D-Way delivers. They are easy to sharpen and stay sharp. They are my go to tools. Wouldn't buy anything else except Jimmie's M42 D-Way tools, and Boxmaster tools.

As with all other D-Way tools, this gouge is very high quality and very sharp, with great edge retention.

I have been using this tool since Dave introduced me to it, I have half a dozen in my tool rack. Tried a Carter and Sons..nice tools but not stiff enough for me.

As a new turner having to invest in a lathe, grinder, chuck..everything. I opted to go with a cheap set of starter lathe tools. They seemed to work really good. A local wood shop recommended I try a "real" tool with a D-Way so I ordered the 3/8" spindle gouge.
WOW.. it cuts like butter. Now I know what truly sharp feels like! I have already started a D-Way wish list for myself and will be upgrading/replacing all of my tools over time.
Besides the quality of the tools, I had questions about how to setup a varigrind from wolverine to properly sharpen this tool. Jimmie responded with one of the most detailed and easy to understand suggestions on setup along with some photos and tips.
These tools are expensive but when you combine the quality of the product with the high level of customer service.. well you just don't find that much these days.
