Product Description
The CBN wheels are specifically designed to grind HSS. With a 12mm Bushing purchase - FITS TORMEK.
These wheels are factory balanced, which makes grinders run very smooth. The grinding wheels have 1 1/2" face to use, they don't need any dressing therefore you won't have the mess of truing wheels or breathing the dust related to dressing wheels. There is no bluing of the steel, as these grinding wheels put very little heat into the tool. In a normal sharpening, you can still touch the end of the tool. You may have noticed in the pictures of the grinders, the guards have been removed. You can remove the guards with these wheels because there is no chance of them blowing up. With the guards off, you have better light and no shadows from the guards when sharpening your tools. You still should use eye protection. The most popular sellers are 180 and 360 grit for our beading tools, skews and spindle gouges, and 80 grit for shaping and sharpening our larger turning tools. They do produce a great edge. The CBN wheels are specifically designed to grind HSS.

CBN for Chisels, Planes and Lathe Tools.

Prefer to purchase turn of century chisels which almost always have been abused or improperly ground, CBN Wheel allows me to quickly set correct primary bevel. From there, it's easy to get very sharp secondary bevel. I've found that 360 grit can get steel hot enough that water quenching is sometimes necessary, Which I've been told a coarser grit would remedy. Went with 360 because it does a great job for Lathe Tools without any other work. Eventually will get coarser grit, but for now, very happy.

I purchased the 180 grit wheel a month ago and yesterday I used it for the first time to sharpen my jointer knives and chisels. All I can say is wow!!! I have a Tormek and it takes forever to remove nicks from knives etc. This wheel took seconds and there was never a moment when the tool I was sharpening got overly hot.
The only thing better than the wheel is Dave's customer service!!!! When I ordered my wheel Dave sent me an email reminding me to check the arbor size on my grinder......which he had specifically mentioned in his video. He could have just assumed my arbor was 1" and sent the wheel, but he check with me first. Now that's customer service.
This was my first purchase from D-Way, but it won't be my last.

CBN Wheels Most Efficient for Sharpening

The service received from D-way second to none. The !0" wheel I received from Dave fit my grinder like a glove. The wheel itself when used to sharpen my scrapers does a very polished job allowing me to use them straight from the grinder without having to raise a burr as with my old grinder wheels. With little or no pressure the efficiency of the sharpening creating very little heat or sparks are truly a joy to use. thank-you Dave.
