 Product Description

Our Woodturning Handles are milled from 6061 air craft aluminum round stock for better balance and strength. A comfortable gently ribbed rubber cover provides great grip, keeps hands from cold surface, and sheds shavings.  Tools are secured with two Stainless Steel set screws 5/16" x 18 TPI. Our Quick Change Knobs are a great choice also, lets you position the tool in or out to your desired length of reveal, and allows for quick removal for sharpening. Our 16" handle is drilled so you can add ballast as desired. They are 1 1/4" in Dia.

Use this handle for all your heavier cuts.

  1. Very Nice

Posted by Tim Dunbar on Aug 20th 2020

This is my first D-Way Tools handle.

I have two other handles from different manufacturers and this quickly became my favorite.

    - Fast shipping, great service.

  2. Return Buyer

Posted by Doug on Oct 14th 2019

I am new to negative rake scrapers although I’ve been woodturning for 19 years. I bought the round nose negative rake scraper from D-Way with the long aluminum handle as an experiment. I then ordered another model and then a third.

The negative rake scrapers are excellent at fine scraping and they leave a smooth surface. The large aluminum handles absorb vibrations but are not so heavy as to be bulky.

I like being able to detach the scrapers from the handles for sharpening. I use the D-Way wheels on my grinder and find the 80 grit works well on the scrapers.

Good products and the people are easy to deal with.

  3. New to Negative Rake Scrapers

Posted by Unknown on Sep 25th 2019

I used a negative rake scraper (DWAY 1 1/4" round) for the first time. It had the DWAY long handle mounted. My first impressions were (1) this handle feels good in the hands and (2) the finish on this scraper is exquisite. I normally use Glaser tools so I have a high standard.

The first application was on a cherry bowl where my Glasers were tearing the fibers. The DWAY scraper left a very smooth surface. I'm so sold that I ordered a second scraper with the same long handle.

  4. Easy tool and handle exchange

Posted by Woody on Jun 22nd 2018

Bought several handles at one time both 12" and 16" handles. Although I own several these newer handles will be dedicated to several gouges with a different gouge grind. This way it will be easy to distinguish them because these will be marked with colored tape on the ends of the handles.

Add this to Dave's Large Skew Chisel and you'll never have tool envy again!

  6. comfortable handle -- balanced

This is a quality handle -- very comfortable, well balanced, fit my hand !!

  7. Great Handle

Posted by Dennis Detlefson on Oct 23rd 2017

I like to make my own handles, but I tried one of Dave's handles, I now have 7 of them. I love these handles they feel great in the hand and the sleeve ads comfort and keeps them warm to the touch.

  8. Fantastic tool

Love D-Way bowl gouges. The steel is the best anywhere.

  9. Feels good in the hand

    Posted by chad_lavoi@yahoo.com on Apr 20th 2017

I like the handle... It's balanced nicely. The quick release is a god send compared to others offerings on the market. The pocket for additional weight is a great feature. The only thing I would change; is to have a Steele flange where the tool inserts inserts. Aluminum is nice and light but it's not the most durable of metals. Considering the tool is taken out and reinserted multiple times a day, beefing up that interface might prolong the aesthetics of the handle. When I spend a lot of money on tools they have to be not only functional look great for a long time too.

  10. Best handles on the market in my opinion.

Posted by John Keeton on Oct 23rd 2015

This makes around a dozen of Dave's handles that I own. Over time, I have replaced most of the handles on my "go to" tools with these and love them. I keep my shop at around 60* in the winter, and these tools remain comfortable to use even then. Not to heavy, but can be weighted if desired.
