This Wood Turning 1/2" Beading Tool is used with the flute down, which enables them be used in a shear cutting manner. Sizes are bead size. Can be used on faceplate or spindle work.
-- Recommend the 8" handle with a 1/2" receiver (1/2" to 3/8" bushing not required).
Note: Light touch is all that is needed, longer handles interfere with the bed of lathe.

I have the full set of beading tools I use with the 8" handle from D-Way. I have had very good results cutting beads on both bowls and spindles. When cutting multiple beads next to one another, I use the teardrop tool to clean up any fibers left between the beads.

Have lots of D-Way tools and this was the only beading tool missing from my collection. Picked this up for making a rounded rim on medium to large utility bowls. Haven’t used it yet but know it will cut clean like the other beaders when I get around using it. D-Way beaders are the best available anywhere.

If you read these reviews, it is obvious that I own a number of D-Way tools. There is one reason for that: consistent excellent quality, workmanship, and customer support. These tools will change the way you turn and open many design doors. They've made turning safer and easier for me.

I bought this tool in order to obtain perfect bead. The tool was easy to use and gradually formed the perfect bead. Since it has 1/2" wide blade section. The groove is slightly less than 1/2". So the bead's diameter is slightly less than 1/2".
The sharpening is easy. I use a coarse grit (250) then fine grit (600) diamond stone to smooth the upper angular surface. then use a round diamond sharpening bar to de-burr the groove.

I needed a larger beading tool for a special project. I have all of D-Way's beading tools and this new 1/2 inch worked perfect. I have used other beading tools but just ended up with tear out. These tools really work. Harvey Meyer introduced me to D-Way and they are the best beading tool on the market.
