I have been using CBN grinding wheels for sharpening my turning tools for a year and have found them to be a real asset. The wheels are factory balanced, which makes my grinders run very smooth. The grinding wheels have 11/2" face to use, they don't need any dressing therefore I don't have the mess of truing wheels and I don't breathe the dust related to dressing wheels. There is no bluing of the steel, as these grinding wheels put very little heat into the tool. In a normal sharpening, you can still touch the end of the tool. If you noticed in the pictures of the grinders, I have removed the guards. You can remove the guards with these wheels because there is no chance of them blowing up. With the guards off, you have better light and no shadows from the guards when sharpening your tools. You still should use eye protection. I use 180 grit for my beading tools, skews and spindle gouges. I use 80 grit for shaping and sharpening any of my larger turning tools. They do produce a great edge. The CBN wheels are specifically designed to grind HSS.

Dave corrected my incorrect choice of a bushing after I reported the make of my grinder. So now I'm equipped with a 80-grit wheel as a companion for my 180 grit CBN wheel.

Excellent product, nothing more can be said, everything has already been said! Dave is an awesome guy to deal with, very helpful, the best - I have purchased three of these wheel, 2 x 8" and 1 x 6" and could not be more pleased with the wheels or Dave and his company...

I ordered two CBN wheels recently and they are very quiet compared to my old wheels that sounded like a freight train coming through my workshop. Even better is the service that I got from Dave. I was struggling with the change over from old wheels to the new ones and Dave offered a very quick and practical fix to my issue. Very helpful service and great products

Excellent wheel. I purchased this for grinding tungsten for Tig welding. Perfect for this application and numerous grades to choose from. I'm sure it will last for years to come. I may buy another.

I have long been frustrated with the fussiness and messiness of AlOx wheels on my turning tools. I put an 80grit and a 180 grit CBN wheel on my grinder and my sharpening improved instantly. No more burned steel edges!

Don't know why I waited so long to add this to my turning tools. Amazing how much easier turning has become for me.

I am a new turner and have been using the gray wheels that came with my grinder. I thought I was putting an edge on my tools until I bought a pair of CBN wheels. What a difference! Turning is so much easier and enjoyable with sharp tools. I second all the comments previously made about these wheels: well made; perfectly balanced; cool running.
A word about D-Way Tools customer service: Two hours after I posted my order I noticed an e-mail in my In box. It was a message from D-Way thanking me for my order and letting me it was already shipped. No kidding. Two hours. I had my wheels three days later. You can't get better service than that.

After much deliberation and procrastination I finally decided to purchase a set of D-way CBN wheels in 80 and 180 grit. Upon receipt I carefully read the directions and installed the wheels on my grinder.
When I switched it on the wheels ran true without any vibration or side to side shimmy. Perfect from the start!
I decided to sharpen a few tools and was delighted at the edge I was able to achieve. My skew needed no honing straight off the 180 grit wheel and was razor sharp. The 1 1/2" width made it much easier to achieve the desired shape on the edge.
The results were excellent for the rest of my tools. I can only say how disappointed I am in that my own procrastination delayed my enjoyment of these fine products.

the only con I can find is the sparks do not flow over the edge of the tool in the same quantity as a stone wheel, this took me a whole minute to get used to, excellent product.
