They are easy to use. My turning friends were impressed with my work.

At first, I thought these specialized tools were a bit expensive. After receiving the 5-piece set, I'm completely satisfied with their performance, and price. They are as easy to use as Dave's video demonstrates. After cutting some test beads on a few different woods, I'd recommend Dave's tools to anyone!

These tools make cutting perfect clean beads possible for anyone. Great tools like all of those Dave produces.

I received my set of Beading tools from Dave and couldn't be happier. I have purchased many items from Dave: CBN wheels, spindle and bowl gouges, large scrapers, etc. All have come with the same consistent quality and workmanship - and sharp!
The beading tool set was no exception. First of all, Dave was kind enough to let me substitute the Diamond (Tear Drop) tool for one of the beading cutters. (I can see already I will get the others to complete the set!). The exact width and ability to see when the flat top of the bead disappears make it easy to make a consistent series of beads. The Diamond tool lets me sharpen and round over the edges of the last beads outside edge when a series complete. Well thought and and precise. Dave's suggestion of practicing with all of his tools certainly applies to these as well. Still playing to find the optimum angle of presentation (keep the handle low) to get crisp edges without tear out on the sides of the beads. The tools give me confidence to add embellishments without the worry of run backs when trying to create beads with a gouge or point tool.
Besides the consistent tool quality, I appreciate Dave's willingness to provide advice on the use of his tools by encouraging phone calls. Coupled with the views he and Larry Hauch created on the use, set-up, sharpening and general woodturning advice makes these the best I've purchased. (This is a comparison of Thompson, Carter and Sons, Sorby, Benjamin's Best and Crown).
I highly recommend these tools for the detail work that separates ordinary turnings from functional art pieces.

I bought the set after seeing a presentation using them. They work even better than I thought they would. I would honestly say they are a worthwhile investment. It is nice being able to form beads on iffy wood and not have sections break away.

Having made my own beading tool from an old gouge, these tools are far superior. Using them as prescribed, a steep downward angle to the tool, they cut beautifully. I use them I handled with no issue catching or grabbing. They leave a clean smooth surface. I have used them in walnut, madrone, and ash so far with no tear out. There is a short learning curve to doing multiple beads next to one another, I would suggest practicing prior to attempting on a valuable project
Well worth the money spent.

I bought the 5 piece set. Turned a perfect bead without even trying. Rows of beads no problem! Showed it to a friend of mine. He said, "It's like cheating". I agree. Never been so easy to turn a perfect bead, it is cheating.
Turned my own handles, I used the teardrop tool to cut lines for wire burning, another tool worth buying.
Thanks for making such awesome tools Dave!

I bought the D-Way beading tool set, an 8" handle and quick change knob, based on Dave's youtube videos and my past excellent experience purchasing the D-Way CBN wheels. The tools are great quality and very sharp. I'm planning to use them for detailing turned pens. Dave shipped the items within hours after I placed the order, and I received the them two days later here in Delaware. Incredible service.

Harvey Meyer demonstrated this at the last meeting of our North Florida Wood Turners meeting. Harvey showed us a remarkable technique that uses a combination of wood burning and these beading tools to provide faux basket weave patterns in his turnings. I haven't tackled the full technique (I may take Harvey's class at John C. Campbell Folk School), but I've taken the beading tools through their paces.
The tools are easy to sharpen (and, thankfully, arrive fully sharpened) and easy to use. Be sure to check out the YouTube video to learn the technique.
I also purchased a single 8" handle, bushings and special quick change knob. It's so easy to change the handle, that there is no need to purchase handles for all the chisels. I wish I had also purchased the diamond shaped chisel for intricate clean-up. Perhaps Santa will bring it.
