1. Roughing

   Purchased this to be a roughing gouge. It sure hasn't disappointed. Good heavy and beefy tool.

2. Quickly became my go-to gouge

   For many years, all my bowl gouges have had an irish grind so this gouge threw me a little when I first used it. Once I got used to using its more traditional grind, it became my favorite for roughing and even some initial shaping. I plan to keep the original profile. The steel cuts through the hard maple I use like it was butter and holds an edge as well as my ASP 2030 skews. Sharpening really is easier when you take off the handle. I strongly recommend watching the sharpening videos on D-Way's site.

3. A real joy to use

   This upped my turning skill. Cuts through the hardest wood like nothing else. Can also make a clean finish needing very little sanding. Wow. It's beefy, holds an edge like no other. A great addition to my D-Way collection.

4. Top quality 3/4 bowl gouge

   I got this 3/4 bowl gouge to hog off wood and that’s what it does. As with the other d-way gouges I own it holds an edge very well, and I was pleased to find out it fits in my vari grind 2 sharpening jig so I didn’t have to make my own or change my sharpening style. Over all a great tool to have in the arsenal.

   As a general observation, you cannot buy a better turning tool than a D-WAY tool. This 5/8" "U"-shaped flute bottom bowl gouge demonstrates the point. Leaves an excellent cut finish on all parts of a bowl, especially the bottom and keeps its edge for a long time.

7. Experince with t.he 3/4" chisel

   first impression was WOW, does that chisel cut. And it does. Now that I have gain a little experience turning, this chisel really helps to take the work out of turning bowel blanks. Thanks Dave.

8. An excellent product.

   This product works well. Good and heavy, very little vibration even on tough, gnarly,wood, and it holds an edge well, as I have come to expect of the fine tools D-Way has to offer.
   
   Would I buy D-Way tools again? You bet!

   They all arrive in great condition I wish I could sharpen my tools to the same standard they arrive in. I guess I need to take a class or keep practising.

10. My favorite roughing gouge on Earth

    You can almost roll a marble down the flute of this gouge—it's that deep and wide.
    For it's size this gouge is also pretty dang good for finer cuts. I personally like a clean surface on my rougher bowls, so I really appreciate the fine cut that the polished flute can give.
