Square Nose Negative Rake Scraper - 1" x 5/16" - 5/8" Tang.
A great tool for use on wide tenons, refining outside curves, and general purpose clean up. Our Neg Rake geometry is much more user friendly than standard scrapers - prevents catches and provides better tool control.
Our customers have provided feedback that when they slightly rounded the corners - it excels on flat bottom bowls, trays, and platters.
20* top angle and 70* bottom. Negative Rake scrapers are a must if you are turning plastic, acrylics, or dense hardwoods.
-- Recommend either an 8" or 12" handle, depending on projects or personal preference. --
"With so many requests to custom make these, we have added them to our line-up." ~ Jimmie

I recently turned a few vessels from walnut and maple using the square nose negative rake scraper for the final shaping and smoothing on every one. I never needed to shapened it on the grinder once using only a few strokes with my diamond hone to renew the bur which seemed to last a vey long time. After using the negative rake scrapers I will never go back to standard.

This is my 9th DWay tool purchase and my first negative rake scraper from them. I have always been pleased with the service, fit and finish of the tools, and the quality and characteristics of the steel. The grind on this tool is far superior to the grinds I have been trying on my on my converted traditional scrapers. I'm now in the process of converting them to this grind. A short handle is perfect for this finesse tool. This is a welcome addition to my arsenal of traditional scrapers.

I own numerous D-Way and Boxmaster tools. I also own a quite a few turning tools from other premium providers. When I need a new tool, my first action is to see if it is available in the D-Way/Boxmaster lineup. Their prices are fair, their quality is first rate as is their customer focus. As an example, I recently contacted Jimmie for recommendations on which flat stock tool for a particular profile grind that I was considering doing. Jimmie offered to custom grind himself.
