 Product Description

Our 16" Woodturning Handles are milled from 6061 aluminum round bar rather than tubing for better balance and strength. A comfortable gently ribbed rubber cover provides great grip, keeps hands from cold surface, and sheds shavings. Tool secured with two Stainless Steel 5/16" x 18 TPI set screws. They are 1-1/4" in diameter.

Your go-to handle when doing any heavy cuts.

  1. Great handles

Posted by Christopher Burns on Nov 19th 2020

The handles are high quality and very solid, making them great for tool control.

  2. The perfect handles for me

Posted by Matt Hunter on Aug 7th 2020

Have been replacing all of my tool handles with these (various lengths) over the past several months. I absolutely love them. I’m sure it’s a combination of factors, but the weight, diameter, and texture are the ones that come to mind immediately. I remove the handles when I sharpen and these go on and come easily (most handles do and these are no different). The handles do not have design variations that render them useable only with D-Way products. I have them on Carter and Sons, Thompson, and D-Way gouges and skews. 5 stars.

  3. Amazing what a difference it makes

Posted by Brian C Kent on Apr 14th 2017

I have been using a good, weighted Padauk handle on my bowl gouge. I tried this handle instead and is is even steadier with less vibration, and the Padauk handle was already excellent.

  4. Nice handles!

Posted by Michael Cole on May 31st 2016

Being brand new to woodturning I didn't know which size handle to buy so bought all 3 sizes. I thought I would probably like the shortest best since I was new. I used it for a few days and liked it. Then I tried the 12" and liked it even better. Haven't tried the 16" yet, but am sure I will like it also, I like that they are quick change with the knob. Nice handles.

  5. Christmas Gift Part

Posted by Cary on Feb 22nd 2016

This last Christmas my daughter was kind enough to give me a 1/2" Spindle Gouge with fingernail grind. But JUST that, not the handle. She said and I quote, "Yeah, I'm not made of money so you will have to buy your own handle". Damned kids, that's almost cruel. So the gouge sat in the shop until I got around to ordering a handle. Its funny I have never held a handle in this style and seeing them online, I thought they were made of plastic hose of some sort, I never knew there was metal inside. I figured it was someone's idea of a joke. Floppy gouge handles are the worst in my opinion. When I read here that these handles are COVERED in the plastic material, I thought to myself, "Yeah that makes a lot more sense now". I ordered one. I know this guy lives in my state but I was still shocked when it was sitting on my doorstep the very next day. There are few things in life better than getting new turning tools from web to my door in less than 24 hours. I raced full speed with my package to my shop like a little kid. I connected it to my useless (until now) gouge tightened down the screws and chucked up some wood. This was to be my first experience with a fingernail grind tool. They do in fact live up to the hype. I love it, its my new go to, tool. The handle is ridiculous (in a good way). I have a mini lathe and I have this monster tool plowing out gobs of sweet sweet ribbons of wood. Sometimes I will close my eyes and just pretend that I have a giant Oneway for my D-way but then I open them quickly because its scary as hell trying to turn with your eyes closed, even with this sweet gouge and handle. Anyway. if your kid screws you over at Christmas by getting you half a Christmas gift as payback for that off brand Barbie you gave her when she was 5, then one of these anti floppy metal handles to go with your sweet new gouge. You will not be disappointed.
