Our Woodturning Handles are milled from 6061 air craft aluminum round stock for better balance and strenght. A comfortable gently ribbed rubber cover provide great grip, and a much warmer feel to the hand compared to all aluminnum handles with no covering. Tools are secured with two Stainless Steel set screws 5/16" x 18 TPI. Our Quick Change Knobs are a great choice also, lets you position the tool in or out to your desired lenght of reveal, and allows for quick removal for sharpening. Our 16" handle is drilled so you can add ballast. They are 1 1/4" in Dia.
I use this handle of all of my heavier cuts.

Bought several handles at one time both 12" and 16" handles. Although I own several these newer handles will be dedicated to several gouges with a different gouge grind. This way it will be easy to distinguish them because these will be marked with colored tape on the ends of the handles.

I like to make my own handles, but I tried one of Dave's handles, I now have 7 of them. I love these handles they feel great in the hand and the sleeve ads comfort and keeps them warm to the touch.

Love D-Way bowl gouges. The steel is the best anywhere.

I like the handle... It's balanced nicely. The quick release is a god send compared to others offerings on the market. The pocket for additional weight is a great feature. The only thing I would change; is to have a Steele flange where the tool inserts inserts. Aluminum is nice and light but it's not the most durable of metals. Considering the tool is taken out and reinserted multiple times a day, beefing up that interface might prolong the aesthetics of the handle. When I spend a lot of money on tools they have to be not only functional look great for a long time too.

This makes around a dozen of Dave's handles that I own. Over time, I have replaced most of the handles on my "go to" tools with these and love them. I keep my shop at around 60* in the winter, and these tools remain comfortable to use even then. Not to heavy, but can be weighted if desired.
